The team at Strand Vets in Port Erin were exceptional with Snowball. After severe cataracts caused his lens to dislodge and he needed his eye removed, they were calm, clear, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. Nothing felt rushed, and we always felt listened to and cared for. Their compassion and professionalism made a very difficult situation much easier to get through. We’re truly grateful for their care.

Our new rescue dog Jasmine had become unwell with an upset stomach. I contacted Strand vets for some advice and to see if they would see her. They saw her straight away and gave her some medication which has sorted her problem.The staff were amazing and we can't thank them enough for helping us out. We are regular visitors to the Island and it's so reassuring that there is some where to take our dogs if needed.

I wanted to post this review after having to have my Labrador put to sleep.Dingo was an old boy and the time had come for us to let him go and be free from pain.From advising us and giving us the quality of life survey I cannot praise the team at Strand highly enough.The compassion, understanding and care they gave Dingo and us was truly appreciated.They made a very hard time more bearable and were so caring.Thank you Ciara for doing the best for my boy and to all the team at Strand for your lovely words in the card you gave us. I currently find myself a fairly frequent visitor as I have two 'senior' dogs. One has diabetes the other, who is grumpy at the best of times, has arthritis. Everybody who works at Strand Vets is friendly, helpful, patient and professional. I've been going there for over 10 years - since my dogs (and me) were younger and fitter and never had any issues. Happy to give them 5 🌟

Really can’t thank strand enough for the help provided today. We’re beginners at chicken keeping and woke up with a sick chicken in the morning and having gone into full panic mode, both the reception and vet were excellent at calming us down. We already have a number of dogs registered, but wasn’t sure whether we could register livestock and for them to be seen to by a vet, but everything was well taken care of and seen to straight away, it’s so much appreciated as no one wants to see their animals suffer!

Very caring staff, our dog passed away last Tuesday and I couldn't believe how caring they are. I was surprised when I collected his ashes today to find a card from them and a lock of his fur included which I really didn't expect. Was seen tonight by Amy, who offered me advice on my overweight cat. Amy discussed the various options with me and was happy to answer any questions I had (and there were quite a few)! She explained the weight management programme to me in detail (size of rations, when to feed etc), and was just brilliant. I was worried about the cost of special diet food,but after she broke it down for me, it didnt seem too expensive after all. She is a credit to the Strand Vet Team, who are all just amazing anyway!!

Lovely vets, took my dog Sadie to be spayed by keyhole surgery not available at my usual vets in Douglas. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and gentle with Sadie. When we went back 2 days later for the post op review. Sadie was so excited to go back. That told me everything! Brilliant experience and would definitely recommend getting dogs spayed this way. She’s back doing Zoomies around the garden 48 hours after surgery. Thanks 😊

Faultless! I came in this morning at 9.10 thinking I'd see if they had space for my pups gunky eyes on Monday. I had a appointment in c/town at 10. They had me in 15 mins later and out in time for me to be early for my appointment. Was worried as it wasn't the "usual staff" I recognise. Stressing was pointless as the ladies on this morning were just as ace as the weekday staff I'm used to seeing 🙂

I would like to thank Strand vets for making a difficult time easier to bear. Today we got our cats ashes back and along side them was a small gift. They are an extremely friendly vets with all staff going that extra mile. Whether it is a dog, starling with a broken leg, hen with an abscess on her bottom, Jackdaw with breathing problems, they treat & do their best for all animals & birds, wild or domesticated. They are also forward thinking & have keyhole surgery making operations. This makes the likes of speying so much better for the animals with them able to walk out of the surgery & able to bounce about normally within 2 days. It's amazing!

Qualified Johne’s accreditation

Johne’s disease is a severe concern for both animal welfare and productivity, exerting far-reaching, complex and sometimes devastating effects on whole herds and the livelihood of farmers.

This is one disease that should not be dismissed. Our vet Ciara Tinkler holds her own Johne’s veterinary advisor certificate, having undertaken training and examination in control strategies for the disease.

Herd Health Planning

Herd health plans are essential for all farms to prevent losses through disease and poor production. They are now mandatory for most Farm Assurance Schemes. Our vets will work with you and go through each individual farms strengths and weaknesses to come up with a health plan to suit your needs. MyHealthyHerd is our planner of choice and meets the Red Tractor Farm Assurance Scheme requirements.

Fertility work and ultrasound scanning

At Strand Vets we offer routine fertility visits using the latest ultrasound equipment to get the most accurate information to help you get your cows in calf. Using fertility treatment plans tailored to suit your needs and budget we can work together to improve performance, productivity and profit.

Bull/Ram breeding soundness examinations

Here at Strand Vets we offer you the peace of mind of performing a full Pre-Breeding examination on your bulls or rams, 30-60 days before you need them at their best.

A staggering 30% of pre breeding examinations highlight a cause for concern, which may mean you wasting valuable time and money!

This comprehensive exam covers all the areas of your bull/ram’s health which may affect his ability to serve cows/lambs, including his:

External genitalia
Semen quality and sperm quality.
